Patios & Garden Paving Specialists

Professional Patios & Garden Paving Installation

A beautifully designed patio transforms how you use your outdoor space — creating an alfresco dining area, entertaining space or outdoor room that adds genuine lifestyle value and increases the appeal of your home. We work with a full range of materials: porcelain paving for a contemporary, frost-proof finish; natural sandstone, limestone and Indian stone for a warm, traditional character; and granite or slate for premium durability. Every patio is set on a properly prepared mortar bed at the correct depth, with falls engineered away from the property for drainage. Jointing is completed with either traditional mortar or resin-based jointing compound for superior weed resistance. Steps, raised patios, retaining walls and garden walls are all within our scope — we design and build complete outdoor spaces, not just flat slabs. Fully insured, free design consultation, written quotes on every job.

Planning Permission

Do you need it?

Most patio installations do not require planning permission under Permitted Development Rights. If you live in a conservation area, a listed building, or your patio would be at the front of your property and impermeable, different rules may apply. Raised patios above 300mm may also have planning implications. We advise on all planning matters during your free site visit.

FAQs

Patios & Garden Paving — Questions Answered

How much does a patio cost in the UK?
Patio cost depends on the size of the area, the material chosen (porcelain, natural stone, concrete), the amount of groundwork required, and any steps or raised sections. Every project is individually quoted — we provide a fully itemised fixed written quote after your free site visit, with no obligation.
What is the best patio material in the UK?
Porcelain is increasingly the most popular choice — it's frost-proof, stain-resistant, requires no sealing and looks stunning in both traditional and contemporary gardens. Natural sandstone gives a warm, traditional British look and improves with age. Indian limestone and granite are premium natural stone options. Concrete flags are the most budget-friendly. We'll bring samples and advise on the right choice for your home at your free consultation.
Porcelain patio vs natural stone — which is better?
Porcelain wins on durability and maintenance: it's frost-proof, doesn't need sealing, and resists staining from algae, food and garden chemicals. Natural sandstone and Indian stone win on character and warmth — they look more natural and develop a beautiful patina over time. For a low-maintenance contemporary garden, choose porcelain. For a traditional cottage or period property, natural stone is hard to beat.
How do I stop weeds growing through my new patio?
The key is a properly jointed surface. Resin jointing compound is the most weed-resistant option — it sets hard, flexible and doesn't crack or wash out like traditional sand-and-cement pointing. We can apply resin pointing to any new patio we install, and also to existing patios as a standalone job. A proper mortar bed and correct jointing depth are equally important.
Can you build raised patios and steps?
Yes — we handle all groundworks including level changes, steps, retaining walls and raised areas. Steps can be built in matching paving material, or in a contrasting material like granite or sandstone treads with a bullnosed edge. We design the full layout during your free site visit and provide a single quote covering all elements.
How long does patio installation take?
A straightforward 30–40m² patio on flat ground takes 3–5 days. Projects with levels, steps, raised areas or walls take longer — typically 5–10 days. Mortar pointing needs 48–72 hours to cure before full use. We give you a specific programme during your site visit so you know exactly what to expect.
